{"id":2329,"date":"2022-07-06T14:04:45","date_gmt":"2022-07-06T19:04:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/trocaire.edu\/about\/?p=2329"},"modified":"2022-07-06T14:04:48","modified_gmt":"2022-07-06T19:04:48","slug":"trocaire-college-awarded-336000-advanced-technological-education-grant-through-national-science-foundation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trocaire.edu\/about\/trocaire-college-awarded-336000-advanced-technological-education-grant-through-national-science-foundation\/","title":{"rendered":"Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ awarded $336,000 Advanced Technological Education grant through National Science Foundation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To address the growing demand for entry-level cybersecurity technicians, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.trocaire.edu\">Ä¢¹½´«Ã½<\/a> today announced it is the recipient of a $336,458 Advanced Technological Education grant through the National Science Foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With this funding, Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ will establish the Cybersecurity Preparation Academy (C-Prep), a high school dual enrollment cybersecurity program where students will earn industry-recognized professional certifications and college credits upon high school graduation. Participating students will also receive the benefit of early assurance admission to Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ and advanced standing in its cybersecurity AAS degree program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cTo keep pace with the rapidly growing demand for cybersecurity technicians here in Western New York, the goal of this project is to create an educational pathway to a full-time IT career, especially among diverse students who are currently underrepresented in the technology sector,\u201d said Dr. Jennifer Blickwedehl, associate vice president for academic affairs, Ä¢¹½´«Ã½. \u201cThrough education and awareness, we also hope to dispel common misconceptions about needing a math or technology background to be successful in an IT career and instead focus on the necessary skills and personality attributes.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The National Science Foundation\u2019s Advanced Technological Education program focuses on the education of technicians for the advanced-technology fields that drive the country\u2019s economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ will partner with two local high schools to offer the program beginning this fall through May 2025. In addition to the courses, Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ will also provide professional development and IT instructor training for high school teachers, assist students with individualized support and mentoring, and strengthen students\u2019 connections to the workforce through work-based learning opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Congressman Brian Higgins said, \u201cThis federal grant supports partnerships that prepare young people for jobs in high-demand fields.
